We put all our gardens to bed for the winter, we mulch with all our fallen leaves, then leave them to it, we both will need the rest this year.

I saw a solitary one the other day also. There seem to be less of them around than a few years ago, though I'm still seeing the odd monarch butterfly out there in the garden. Had a cute little fantail keep me company this afternoon as I was pruning back the grapevine. I love the way it grows along the front of the pergola but as for the grapes ... I bin them, such a shame as I had a heap. None of the family like them, they have a lot of pips and not much flavour. But at least they look (well, looked) good! I don't garden in winter so trying to get it all tidy now.
