Maurice Prendergast - Post Impressionist Watercolor Painter!
Maurice Brazil Prendergast (1858-1924) was born in Saint John's, Newfoundland, to a shopkeeper who moved the family to Boston in 1868. He left school after only eight or nine years and went to work for a commercial art firm. He never married and throughout his life was accompanied and supported by his brother Charles, a gifted craftsman and artist in his own right.

Preparatory to anything else… this is a terrific Prendergast! Thank you.

@Berkeleyborn
I finally solved this. What a delight!
I'm glad to hear Blue's suggestion will help you find what you're seeking. (I appreciate your tags, too, BTW)
I'm heading to Boston on Wednesday and staying through Sunday. I'm very much hoping to see a couple of Pendergasts at the MFA and will post one of them tomorrow in anticipation. Their only Sorolla is apparently not on view but I'm sure to see lots of wonderful things. Of course, I'm most excited to see my daughter, my grand doggie, and eventually my son-in-law when he gets back from his business trip.

Berkeleyborn

Yes, I am delighted to find a tag. . .usually from you Carol. . .you are such a dear!
And I have just tried one of Bluebonnet's suggestions. . .didn't know I could by-pass all the most recent stuff that does not suit my fancy and ask to be shown just whatever . . . like "paintings" and even a particular size. This is new to me! I can do this perhaps once a week. Though now in the process I can see that I already "follow" all the best folk!

@Berkeleyborn
In addition to Blue's suggestions, if Jidigi says no, we can try to help each other out. Just as you tagged me on this (thank you very much!), I'll be happy to tag you when I see or post a Prendergast, or any other artist any one of us is interested in. I'm sure others in our community would be willing to do likewise.

Berkeleyborn

All good ideas Bluebonnet. . .thank you for taking the time to give me and all of us, these helpful suggestions.

Bluebonnet

@Berkeleyborn You could ask, but Jigidi is unlikely to say yes. Jigidi is a very small outfit, nothing like mutualart.com. And "paintings" is only one of 100+ categories.

My best suggestion is this: On any Jigidi page, click on "Puzzles" at the far left of the black bar at the top of the page. Then click on "Most Recent" directly below "Puzzles." Then choose "Art: Paintings" from the drop-down list of categories. You will see I don't know how many pages of painting puzzles, with the most recently posted shown first. You can even narrow the list down by size range. You can't look for a specific artist this way, but at least you won't have to scan through pages of cartoons, kaleidoscopes, and cats.

Alternatively, you can use search by keyword to check for your favorite artists once or twice a day.

Berkeleyborn

@Bluebonnet - I acknowledge you inspiration for my very first dive into Prendergast. . .this one of two I posted in late November. And just 10 days ago, you brought even more. But you and I are not the only ones. . . several others have shown us his work.

SO. . .I'm wondering if there is not already a way to do this (and I just don't know), could we ask jigidi to set up an "artist alert" the way that mutualart.com does. So that we are authomatically notified when someone posts an artist one of us has requested?
Or must we keep a list of favorites and just keep checking? I do so very much appreciate that we can "follow" each other.
and. . .
@Moolee. . .thank you for today, fidig this one and liking it and for drawing us back to it. We love revisits.

I really like his paintings! Thanks
