J.E. MILLAIS.1849.THE.CARPENTERS.SHOP.
Why are you reporting this puzzle?
Christ in the House of his Parents. A Pre-Raphaelite image notorious in its time. Charles Dickens was disgusted by the realism. The artist used his family as models - his own father played Joseph - and his favourite model for the figure of Mary. He used sheep's heads from the butchers for the herd peering in through the door and a real carpenter's shop for the setting.
