Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Why would someone abandon this little gem? Maybe it was a love affair gone bad and it turned out not to be the "Love Bug" they thought it was. Or maybe the owner just took a notion, on a dare, to drive it out onto the beach and got stuck in the sand.

I tried it, PW, but no luck. I'm afraid to muck up my machine.....

ParsonWayne

You MAY have to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

ParsonWayne

It's in your settings, PD. Right-click on your windows icon in the bottom left-hand corner, go up to settings. Change the display resolution. It also works in Windows 11.

PutterDutt

The good old days! :::sigh:::

I do think it is a composite car. We had 6 VW bugs all at the same time. Every time one of the kids was old enough, another VW turned up. We had two 1962 one each 1964 1966 1968 and 1969. None looked like this one. Mine was the 1969. I was a "super" beetle. The first with the 1600 cc engine. We all saved up and paid for our cars. They were the cheapest thing on the market in the 60's
Mine was $2368. :))))

I'm sorry, but I'm a Apple Mac guy, and the only Windows PC I currently have up and running has Windows XP on it. And no, the XP machine hasn't been connected to the internet for several years.

PutterDutt

Okay, Ubergeek, the icons on my screen went HUGE for some reason and I've tried to get them back to normal. Win 10. Any ideas???? BTW, I never cared for DiNozzo.

racoonstar

@PutterDutt - a blending of all three?

Controlled and in control like Gibbs.
Cool class clown like DiNozzo.
Ubergeek like Tim.

Obrázek evokující spoustu myšlenek... i bez nutnosti zkoumání technických detailů je nádherně působivý a krásný... děkuji

PutterDutt

When I see an old beat up car like this one, it make me sad because at one point it was somebody's pride and joy Sana_M.

Would you be like Gibbs, DeNozzo or Tim, Bob?

Isaly2

Great photo. There could be several reasons for this cute little bug to be stuck.

Sana_M

Aww. Poor little Ocho. No one wants him anymore. (๑•́_•̀๑)

racoonstar

I could see myself in NCIS. :D

PutterDutt

NCIS might be interested, Bob!

racoonstar

I wonder if the US FBI Cybercrimes division is hiring? :::think:::

Going back and looking over the VW Bug you are right on the money with your keen observations. You would make a very good investigator for some law agency.

A couple of sites think this is not real, with at least one claiming it's a toy car.

Zooming in on the picture after solving the puzzle I see a few problems.

- The headlights poke out of the front fenders, when in reality VW bugs of this age had recessed headlights. And the turn signals on top of the front fender are the wrong shape and size.
- The front hood has trim around the edges of the hood, when in reality they only had a single trim strip running the length of the hood from the front bumper to the windshield. There are also trim pieces around the side windows on this vehicle that did not exist on the real VW bugs.
- And the windshield is the wrong shape. The top of the windshield should not have a bend in the center, and should be almost completely straight.

Big fire it is too, looking at the refection in the water. Thanks for sharing. Poor little love bug.

ParsonWayne

It's nothing a large can of Raid can't take care of.

PutterDutt

No, actually, it's neither -- if you look at the background, you can see fire or is it a volcano? They must have had to run for their lives so they abandoned the bug because they panicked and got stuck in the sand.
