Could you imagine doing like a white elephant party but with food? LOL Do they still do those kinds of parties? HAHA! I have a book somewhere full of recipes like this with color photos and everything that I bought just to see what was in it. Nasty stuff!

Never thought of that.

rswestley

Ianto, the best thing about taking a lime-cheese-jello salad to a party is that it makes great ammunition during a food fight. I consider this to be my secret weapon

Not for her.

Watchman

Sounds like a fun party! lol

I told my sister about these. She has gone to parties where things like this kind of foods has been brought.

Becca48

LOLOLOL!!! Y'ALL ARE FUNNNNYY!!!

Watchman

Don't get too dizzy! ;-)))

Weeeeeeee!

Watchman

You are lucky that you were quiet and we did not see you standing in the corner; for if we had that loose bandage dangling there, one of us could have yanked it and watched you spin like a top. ;-)))

Ms_Maddy

This is most definitely a crime against cheese.

Ms_Maddy

Vile, I tell you! Vile!

I appreciate everyone's comments. I don't want to seem rude by not replying - it's interesting to sit back and watch where your thoughts take us...

laskadog1

@Watchman One of my most favorite movies of all time. :) My daughter is pregnant and has decided to name her Grace. My sister and I--both HUGE fans of the movie--cannot stop doing the whole "blessing" scene. LOL!

Watchman

National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, cat food in the lime jello & very dried out turkey. A Classic...

nanab

No, not catfish - a kitty, kitty.

rswestley

The seasoned cat? On the right side, under the lettuce... I think I see some claws and part of a paw.

nanab

Where's the kitty?

Becca48

Bubble, LOL

th_counselor

@Becca48 you are quite welcome!

Bubble

@Becca48
Becca, I was joking about the prunes, a throw back (or up) to the prune concoction that mpp made. 、、☂ヽ`、、

Becca48

th_counselor, thank you!! :-)

Becca48

rswestley, hahaha!! Funny!! I love a lemon salmon salad: Lemon jello, Philly Cream cheese, tartar sauce or mayo, canned, flaked, deboned, skinless salmon (I eat only wild caught Alaskan), celery, onion, crushed pineapple, chopped or slivered walnuts, pecans, or almonds. I don't measure. It's always to taste. Absolutely fabulous tasting spread!

Becca48

Bubble, spam--agreed???? In jello??? Agreed!!! But prunes???? Perish that thot!!! Aarrghh!!!! LOL
Serioysly, tho, if you hate cottage cheese, plain yogurt, philadelphia cream cheese, or sour cream are great substitutes for any jello recipe calling for cc.

Watchman

I like blue cheese but not with jello. ICK

Donnajames

This sounds like Yuck! dj

Surreal_Heidi

I was once served orange Jello with blue cheese. I threw up.

Watchman

Jello Cake - White cake, lemon jello or your favorite flavor, and whip cream. Mmmm I have not had that in a long time. ;-)

Bubble

I hate cottage cheese, so thats out.

We eat a lot of jello, the sugar reduced, (smaller packets but more expensive, a clever ploy.)
However, I don't put onions or even Spam in ours, perish the thought, just berries and the occasional bucket of prunes. This hockey puck could double as a door stop.

I have often wondered why they didn't make onion flavored Jello... seems to me it would be the perfect compliment to liver flavored Jello. And I appreciate the wisdom of adding cottage cheese. Cottage cheese can extend the life of anything... even the green stuff in the fridge. 8 months down the road you look in the fridge and say, "is that mold growing on my orangish/blackish Jello salad?" and you can say with confidence "no, it's just the curds of cottage cheese glowing in the dark"

th_counselor

@Becca48 The instructions say: Dissolve 1 package Lime Jell-o in 1 cup hot water. Add 3/4 cup cold water, 2 tbsp vinegar and 1 tsp grated onion. Pour 1/2 cup mixture into 1 quart jello mold ring. Chill until firm. Chill remaining jello until slightly thickened. Fold in 1 cup cottage cheese and 1 tbsp mayo and blend. Pour onto firm jello. Chill until firm. Unmold. Garnish with salad greens. Fill center with seafood salad. Makes 6 servings.

Becca48

Yum! In the blended portion, is that "¾ C. cold water", and "Pour ½ C. of mixture? (The measurements are just a bit blurry.) Thanks!

Watchman

Christmas will never be the same when Aunt Martha came over with a new jello delight!
