thunder snow on the summer solstice
Why are you reporting this puzzle?
Today may be the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, but an unseasonably cold mass of air from the Gulf of Alaska has brought steady rain and chilly temperatures - at least in the valleys.
The mountain passes have had snow several days in a row now, and of course the mountaintops themselves have had more.
With the cold wet airmass encountering the warmed landmass, instability results. This means thunderstorms. But when the temperatures are this low, it means thunder snow.
I'm enjoying the cool weather. Happy summer to everyone N of the equator!
