Yes, exactly the way you make grilled cheese sandwiches. There's no need to melt butter in the pan. I just lightly butter the outsides of the sandwich before putting it in the frying pan. "Grilled" is a funny way to describe it, as we often cook things such as steaks on a grill, setting it on the metal grid over the fire. That wouldn't work with a sandwich!

I will do but I need clarification on what you mean by grilled. Here in England that means putting it under a grill that is just like toasting it but I know in America and Canada a grilled cheese is where you make a cheese sandwich and fry it in butter both sides so the bread fries and the cheese melts. I make grilled cheese the American way. So do you mean fry it in a pan as a PB sandwich in butter?

Ah, thanks for the tips. I hope you try a grilled peanut butter sandwich. I've been eating them for well over 60 years. I had two for supper a few nights ago!

I hope you enjoy it. If you feel like the beans have made the toast go soggy, it's meant to be like that and use salted butter.

I put a post-it note up on my cupboard door above the stove. Next time I have baked beans it'll be on toast. Thanks.

Hi Patsquire. It is everyone's favourite in England. I am confident not a single person here doesn't like baked beans or baked beans and cheese on toast.

What a terrific idea! I'd never have thought of it, either. Is it an old family favorite?

My own special treat is a grilled peanut butter sandwich. You make it exactly like a grilled cheese, but with PB instead of the cheese. Delish! I'll be trying this one, fer shur! ☺

Top it off with Worcestershire sauce. Luvverly Jubbly!

Give this a try with a stock cube crumbled into the beans while heating!
