I got the top, missed the bottom. I too, had toadstools and forest. This is why:

I had never heard the proverb you quoted Hippo, but I think it is a good one. Kind of like sitting on the fence and not making up your mind. Trying to take 2 positions on an issue.
Thanks hippo!

Mischka

Thank you, Royal Horsy Highness!

Audacious

You don't have to @hippo but any ccontribution is welcome. I'm building the equivalent of a rockery with them in the garden, just a bit sparklier and errm pointier .

hippo

:::sigh:::

I suppose I have to give points for that @Audacious...

☆☆☆☆☆

Audacious

Yes and no.
I had wooden stools (wood in stools).

hippo

I believe you Fiona. Really I do.

Well there probably ARE toadstools around there somewhere.

Points awarded for both of ye

Juba1010

#1 yes
#2 I remember now because you’ve used this before. I had toadstools because I could see the photo well and I was making stuff up.

Mischka

Aagh, I got both of them, but I'm arriving late, so no one will ever believe me.

Max_Tooney

"Leg Ends of the Fall" (Anthony Hopkins flic)

Watchman

I fall trying to sit on one seat. LOL
Overstated Le Giants and in between fall. ;-))

nanab

YES and YES
I did the second one last year.

Max_Tooney

That proverb should be posted in all taverns.

Fowly

Yes...and never heard the second one.

hippo

Old proverb, likely comes from the Latin proverb labitur enitens sellis herere duabus - "he falls trying to sit on two seats".

ladyblue

I'm with you Max - I hadn't heard this before either.

Did get the first though. :)

Max_Tooney

Totally unfamiliar with that second statement. I need to get out more, lol.

hippo

Answers:

#1 Understated elegance.
#2: Fall between two stools.

Ms_Maddy

Got em both!

Ms_Maddy

Where are the ants?

jals

Max,
I hope you are involved in a job that utilizes your sharp wit and quick mind.

Fowly

How many words in #2, Oh bluebell keeper? (my grandfathers draught horse was called Bluebell, she was beautiful.). I have a 2 word answer I think fits.

jals

I thought about it both ways, too John. And Max, you need to learn to hold it. 😉

Fowly

My thoughts exactly SPDVO. 🦉

hippo

Heh heh :))

SPaceDinVADerOne

over or under 😉 lolol

Max_Tooney

The top one fits me to a tee, I must say.

SPaceDinVADerOne

the top could actually be one of two answers 😉

Watchman

Mmmm... we will see... ;-))

Max_Tooney

I already wasted mine, lol.

jals

Audacious, we will see who comes up with the most creative meaning for the bottom. Juba, myself, you, Parson, Max, Fowly, Nanab, and more have all come up with I'm sure some very entertaining solutions.

hippo

I hope you can all see the picture at the bottom is something like this:

Audacious

I have an answer for the bottom but I'm not sure it's right.

ParsonWayne

The top one was much easier.

Juba1010

Yes on the top. Creative answer for the bottom. Probably wrong.

jals

I have the top, and maybe the bottom, but I'm guessing I'm probably wrong on the bottom. lol
That sounded confident, didn't it?😂

ladyblue

Ok, I have half the bottom - but the other half isn't making sense to me yet. :)

Fowly

I have the top one.

ladyblue

Top one came fast. Thinking on the bottom.

nanab

I have the top one, working out the bottom.

manicpuzzler

Thinking ...............

Max_Tooney

The Dickens, you say!

hippo

That sounds Merican enough I guess...

Max_Tooney

Bottom one: famed novel "A Trail of Stool Cities".

hippo

#2is Merican-style...

Audacious

Got #1.
