That's a wonderful custom, Atsutsa. Trees are so important. I can't imagine choosing to live without them.
I'm so glad, GG. I never get tired of see the deer.

GOSPELGRANDMA

This is a GREAT shot, Li! Love it. Thank you! ☺

Atsutsa

@joyfulli Oh, no! "Chopped down all the trees"!!!! Seriously bad.....My Tacoma friends plant at least one tree a year on their property....they say it cuts down on the "ripping" effect of the winds they get.

joyfulli

That's fun to know Atsutsa. You and I have the same love of exploration by car. When I drive to more distant places (Chicago or the Twin Cities, where my kids live) I often take small, dirt roads on my way. I always know where the big boundaries are, so if I hit one I can recalibrate. I have never taken that particular ferry ride but have taken others. It's interesting how people raised on the prairies react to other kinds of environments. I grew up in Seattle, and when we sold our house, the new people, from North Dakota, immediately chopped down all the trees!

Atsutsa

@joyfulli Yes, I spent 30 years there in Madison, Milwaukee and Fond du Lac. I'm a lover of exploration by car so I've visited lots of the forested areas and other parks too. My late husband was from the Leelanau Peninsula in Michigan but was raised in South Dakota. One summer I took him across Lake Michigan on the ferry. It was an experience for him especially when we got to the point where you couldn't see land. He was very glad when we got back in the car and on land. I've also spent a couple summers in the Spooner area, Beautiful places.

This year they've seemed extraordinarily prolific, Atsutsa. I enjoy seeing them. I'm assuming you're from Wi but have moved elsewhere?
You're always welcome, DexterandRudymomma. Blessings.

DexterandRudymomma

Love your pictures of the deer. Thanks so much.

Atsutsa

Oh, I do miss the deer in the fields of Wisconsin.

joyfulli

Thank you for that, Ed.
And thank YOU, too, Jacki!
I like that, Dusty.
No, they have to dig down to get food, Sylvia. It's hard on them.

lovesgulls

Poor deer, I bet they don't like the new snow either!
