In Today's Daily Jigsaw Puzzle, we visit Waits River Village. It is a small, historically notable community in the town of Topsham in Orange County, Vermont, USA.

Established in the late 18th century, the village is named after the Waits River, a tributary flowing into the Connecticut River. According to local tradition, the river was named for Joseph Wait, a soldier who reportedly carved his name into a tree along its banks during an expedition in 1759.

The village is distinguished by its picturesque New England setting, featuring classic rural architecture, including a prominent white Methodist church. This iconic scene has appeared widely in photographs, postcards, and various media, becoming a recognizable symbol of rural Vermont.

The Waits River Schoolhouse is historically significant, constructed in 1914 after the original building was lost to fire. The schoolhouse operated until 1972 and has since been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is recognized for its Colonial Revival style and local educational importance.

As of the 2020 census, Waits River Village had a population of approximately 793 residents ♥
