Here is the NPS link for you to see the picture of the real castle:

Scotty bilked money from a rich investor to build the castle in Death Valley. The investor did visit occasionally but most of the time Scotty claimed to others that he was the owner. From the NPS site:
"Scotty, convinced everyone that he had built the castle with money from his rich secret mines in the area. Albert Mussey Johnson actually built the house as a vacation getaway. He convinced several wealthy businessmen that he had a claim to a fabulous gold minein Death Valley"

I just got on the web, and looked up the story of Scotty's Castle. I am sorry I didn't see any information about the Castle, when I was passing through Death Valley. Very interesting, thank you for sharing.

It is a long one, but first do you know the Death Valley story about Scotty's Castle? If not, look it up. The short version is we were looking for a house, our friend told us about the house we purchased later. Afterward he brought all our neighbors over to look at it, kind of like 'Scotty'. So now we call our friend Scotty.
Another friend gave us this little castle as a house warming gift.

Story, please?
