Fuencaliente Lighthouses La Palma.
Why are you reporting this puzzle?
The old lighthouse was built of stone in the late 1880s and went into service in 1903.
The tower was 12 metres high with an oil lamp in the lantern.
In 1939 an earthquake severely damaged the lighthouse. The tower was demolished and rebuilt with concrete and the light replaced with an acetylene lamp.
The new lighthouse was put into service in 1985. The tower is 24 metres high and the light has a range of 16 miles.
The old lighthouse was further damaged by rumblings from the nearby San Antonio volcano but it has since been restored and houses nautical exhibitions. (Well, it did when we were there 10 years ago).
We walked up to the top of the volcano and the sulpherous gas could certainly be smelt.
