The very exclusive property (right) didn't exist when I was a youngster. Its grounds ran down to the bunch of trees (right of centre), where there was a lake about the size of a public swimming pool. We called it Lake Africa because of its shape. Here, we used to catch "spricks" (sticklebacks), at least two species of newts (now illegal to catch), and frogs from spawn - all now sadly gone - lake and all!
In the larger area we often saw badgers, the occasional fox, the odd pheasant, hedghogs galore, and many different species of birds. It was a magical place for us kids!
The area is known as the Craigantlet or Holywood Hills, with Church Road dividing the two.
