yes, I know, it is hard to judge the absolute passion someone has for such a stupid thing as a bridge..... but that is MY George Washington Bridge and that is MY New York City and that is MY Hudson River....even more so now that I have had to move away because I could not afford to live there, it just was breaking my back paying $12,000 a year in property taxes for a 5 room house on a postage stamp lot. I miss home so much, I am such the New York City girl.... and Beatle Carol thank you so much for sharing that....so often I have loved your puzzles and lol, do ya think my Irish cop dad would let me see the Beatles at Shea Stadium?????? NO Way......but I threw such a hissy fit and went on a hunger strike that truly alarmed my parents that my dad finally decided he would take me to LaGuardia Airport to see them get off their plane as they came in from the Chicago concert to play Shea......and the plane got in at 4:15 am in the morning, I actually got to talk to Ringo and George, John just sort of listened....Paul wasn't there, he had been very sick in flight, was throwing up the whole way....and they rushed him separately to a hospital, but truly, my life has gone entirely downhill ever since that magical night I got to be THAT close to them, it was the best day of my entire life. I'm so glad you got to visit NYC at that time, we were all pulling together, the city is a warmer, closer place ever since. My dad is buried right on top of the Palisades, overlooking our beloved Hudson River and I will be buried right next to him. brightest blessings Carol. (I was at the St Patricks parade in 2002 and got little gifts, patches, flags from the marching units as far away as Toronto, people from all over the world came and showed their unity and support and it was such a beautiful parade that day)

I had no idea that I would touch such a raw nerve, and for that I am truly sorry. It really was just a question that I had about choosing a beautiful bridge...

There's more than one definition of the word "beautiful" and this is certainly a most beautiful bridge.
I was with a group of 1,000 Oregonians who went to NYC together 3 weeks after 9/11 to give our moral support to the citizens, and help boost the tourism economy again. I must have hugged 100 police officers and firefighters, and total strangers all over the city. We all became New Yorkers that week.

whatever. your opinion is your opinion and my opinion is my opinion...... and I was born on Staten Island and that darn Verrazano Narrows bridge ruined that pristine, gorgeous island and that too is my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I much prefer my GWB, it has an elegance and grace that I adore..... stark bridge towers just do nothing for me..... also my dad spent his life on the GWB, a career Port Authority police officer in charge of dangerous cargo on the lower level with a crew of almost 200 people under him....all the toll collectors loved him and when, at 9/11, seeing his city that he protected and loved attacked, he went into a downward spiral and died on the day they went from rescue to recovery, it broke his heart he was so old and helpless to help his fellow brother officers. (and firemen...he was a lifelong volunteer fireman too)..... I know in his grace God knew my dad was the only person qualified to gather up all the lost souls and bring them home to him. Opinion? No. I know it for a fact.

You really think it's the most beautiful? (Even with the Martha tucked underneath?...!). I'm a die-hard New Yorker, but I think the Verrazano is a nicer looking new one, and the Brooklyn Bridge a more fascinating old one... And then there are the dozens of others from around the world that I've seen in photos posted on Jigidi.
