Every once in a while a song pops up that you think everyone must have known and they don't. I was just popular in certain regions of the country. I guess that's the only explanation. And not for nothin' but I think it should have been entitled The Call of the Wild Goose.

Bill_I_Am

Huh. I never heard that, despite having a sister your age, Pat, who was always spinning the 45s.

I remember that song, Plum! Frankie Laine, something of the Wild Goose. Hold, please. I think there's a device that can help us out with this. . . . . . . . . . The Cry of the Wild Goose

They are Canada geese, and they used to go away in the winter. But I suppose climate change has altered their habits, and now they have become "homies" who hang around all year. Much to the chagrin of golf courses and parks, because the geese's presence in such numbers is not without certain consequences.

Plumpossum

"...wild goose, brother goose, which is best, a wand'ring foot or a heart at rest?" Does anyone remember the song of which that is a snippet?

Plumpossum

Lucky you!

There are a lot of them here in the Denver area. Where I used to live was right on the flight path from the reservoir where they spent the night to the lakes and parks where they hung out during the day. So every morning and evening they would fly over, honking all the while. I guess the honking is them chatting en route. :-)

Plumpossum

Thanks, Jillian, Pat, and Bill. I've not seen very many flyovers of geese, but the few I have seen were thrilling.

Bill_I_Am

I agree. I like the sound of their honking as they fly overhead. Thanks, Plum.

patw

Their call as they fly overhead always brings a smile. Thanks, Plum. :-)
