no lapidary work here, using raw materials as they are. A crystal and a piece of peacock ore wrapped in copper and then..you got it! Oxidized. I'm sure all my copper will now be oxidized as a final process.

jyl, I kind of wondered if that was your reasoning because of your comments of late. I'm a fall, but have recently, since wire wrapping, thrown that to the wind! I wear my pieces so I can show them at their best! On someone! even silver, which I NEVER wore before! ;-D

nicco, thank you..I love that book/movie! yes! that is what oxidizing is all about, basically. giving it an antique look.

I love this piece - it reminds me of, maybe, a little bottle of precious essence - such as that used by Lucy in The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis. The oxidising process has given it an antique bronze look.

It's just my color palette, Carole: I'm a Winter and the oxidized version fights with everything I can wear. The "raw" version would work with whatever the crystal reflects from its background.

jyll, thank you, good to know. Yes, I agree about the crystal. I was disappointed. I will look into the protective coating thing. I will also slow down on oxidizing! Why can't you wear oxidized stuff?

jyl

Hey, you!! It may surprise you that some people would prefer the un-oxidized version. I know I would never be able to wear the oxidized one, but the "raw" piece would look just dandy on me. The crystal looks kinda foggy with the oxidization and quite a lot clearer before being treated. Maybe there is a temporary coating to protect the surface of the stone while it is being processed??
