Why are you reporting this puzzle?

So, it's a warm day in July, 1966... wait... sorry... this is San Francisco... so, it's a nippy day in July, 1966, and our pair of intrepid rascals, Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse decide on a hairy bear with a shovtar - I'm guessing this is what you call a combination shovel/guitar, just like a combination keyboard/guitar is a keytar. I'm not making that up.... well, the keytar's real, the shovtar not so much, but the instrument was probably never mass produced so who gives a damn?

This poster was designed for Family Dog concerts July 8 -10, 1966, and there are two interesting things about it (for TIM and me, at least). It was printed out of registration, which means the colors were deliberately not aligned, giving it a blurry effect to simulate the visual effects of LSD, and the bear's belt buckle says "SMOKE"... not conducive to preventing forest fires, but then, this is not our beloved Smokey and I'm not completely sure he means 'in the woods', right, huh? Yeah, I'm right... you know I'm right...

Hells Bells, I am Thunderstruck by your reply...

msbonne

Careful TIM. Liking AC/DC, can give you Big Balls, and send you on the Highway To Hell.

rswestley

mpp, going back to your comment... you should remember currect comes in two different forms, AC and DC.. Which current are you not a fan of? I enjoy AC because it runs my hot tub and my embalming machine. But DC starts my car and makes my Chatty Cathy talk, so I like both, AC and DC.. And since I enjoy AC and DC, I am considered to be diverse which makes me a perfect choice to be a politician... and Lord knows we can always use an extra dumb a** in Washington

msbonne

Um, yes, THAT is what I meant.

Watchman

Don't you mean that you, walk slowly, actually, you crawl slowly and carry a big claw? ;-))

msbonne

Me too!!

Watchman

Thanks for the heads up, it best to be aware of me. I do walk softly and carry a big stick. ;-))

msbonne

Beware the Bear Snake, coming to an area near you this summer.

Watchman

Black bears roam through my woods, as long as they leave me alone, I will leave them alone. Poisonous snakes, now that is the different story. BANG.... smoke has cleared, and that is one dead snake. At the moment it is too cold for the actual snakes. Best be ready for major disasters are a-coming, we all are in for one hell of a bumpy ride.

Never been a fan of currants... those Craisins are kinda good, though...

rswestley

I guess the killing of all of California's grizzly bears is old news. My apologies for the humdrum historical comment... I'd stick to current events but I don't think there are any current events... just current disasters

Watchman

Yes, I have heard that one room is rubberized, and the other is padded. The one everyone stays away from for it is wired, and no one wants to be shocked. There is a waiting line for the feathered room, for everyone is hungry for a laugh or two. However, My room is not near that hospital, thankfully. It has a wonderful view, I am able to step out anytime, and run through the woods.

msbonne

TIM, I found out today, they have an entire wing of the hospital devoted to your avid followers.

rswestley

Maria, I have nominated you for this weeks "Too Much Time on my Hands" award. TIM issues one award each week to a person that has demonstrated the strength, endurance and the courage to subject your brain to reading one of TIMs comments in it's entirety. Congratulations Maria... urgent care is awaiting your arrival

Watchman

Jump, Jumped, Jumping, JUMPING!!!! Is anything happening there on the border? ;-))

rswestley

OK... my comment equals six comments so I have fullfilled my commitment for today. If you need me I will be using a jack hammer on the California/Arizona border

rswestley

Boy oh boy, that Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse were real jokesters. I should have known they had a sense of humor when they highlighted such groups as
Chrome Syphilis , The Electric Jock Straps, The Giants of Spam, Karnivorous Kittens, The Anal Babies.... and of course Lee Michaels :-)

Earth calling google... earth calling google... where was I going with this? Oh yeah.... the Green Bear and the beginning of hypocrisy- California 1922

In the 1700s, it is estimated that 10,000 grizzly bears inhabited what is modern-day California.

The ranchers’ domesticated livestock were easy prey for the grizzly bears and the grizzlies quickly became enemies of the rancheros. Vaqueros hunted the grizzlies, often roping and capturing them to be pitted against other animals in public fighting events and often pitted bears against bulls and inspired betting as to whether the bear or the bull would win.

Less than 75 years after the discovery of gold in 1848, almost every grizzly bear in California had been tracked down and killed. The last hunted California grizzly bear was shot in Tulare County, California, in August, 1922 and thereafter, grizzlies were never seen again in California. Now there is not one frickin' grizzly bear in California

I say that to say this... how the hell does California get off posting a green bear??? Green, the color of nature, replenishment, the worshiping all living beings... so, I know, I
have an idea...LET'S KILL ALL THE FRICKIN' BEARS!! And California has the nerve to make the Grizzly Bear their state animal??? And put a big Grizzly Bear in the middle of their state flag???

Everyday I jump up and down in my backyard hoping to cause an earthquake and California will get flushed down like the whirl pool in my toilet.

Now I'm pissed! I'll probably invite all of my fat neighbors over and we will spend the rest of the day jumping up and down in my backyard. So far I don't see 2021 being any better than 2020... (damn those frickin' bear killers)

msbonne

They are certainly green now.
