This grew on my tulip magnolia tree one late summer and I didn't know what it was. I was very relieved to discover it's merely some sort of seed pod (who knew those trees produced them?!), rather than something harmful!

I used to grow a magnolia tree once, and yes, it`s a seed capsule, the seeds are bright orange and a nice contast to the outside. :-)

Thanks! Wish I still had it. This was at least 6 years ago. We have so many trees here that it's difficult to find a sunny spot (at least in the spring), so I think this will likely remain my only one.

they do, its their way to create their seed. inside I think is kind of red beans. make a try, give some to some place and see what happens ^^
