market number 3 ... this market is different from the first two. the first two are held on pavement. both have only vendors, so most of the customers come, get what they want/need & leave.

this market is held in the city park. each week one of the local restaurants set up at the shelter house, giving the market a picnic atmosphere. the playground is right near us so families come to the park to eat & shop. there has been live music, we have been serenaded by the high school choir. Akron makes it an event to go to, & the town responds :o)

this week they served philly steak & cheese in drive by fashion. my wife is crafty ... take it whatever way you want, a disclaimer has been signed & I am innocent of any charges ... with market restrictions easing once again, crafters are now allowed to sell their wares

@hippo ... a little over 4,100 miles ... a day trip on the SST ;o)

thanks Pam :o)

gogogo

Glad your 4th of July at market was a good one, John. :-))

hippo

Mouth is watering... How far away are you from Dartmoor?? :))

SPaceDinVADerOne

in an homage to Reese's i also make "You Got Chocolate In My Peanut Butter" Fudge ;o)

robf

John! You decadent chef.
Is it Stolichnaya? Spanish fly? Quebec maple syrup??

SPaceDinVADerOne

I make an old fashioned peanut butter fudge from a 1952 recipe. milk sugar, peanut butter, vanilla & salt ... I cannot divulge anything else, I have been sworn to silence O:o)

PutterDutt

I'm with Bub! :o)

Bubble

Bread spread with fudge a great combination John.
I've tried so many kinds of fudge on the Island, with cream, without butter, you name it, I've tried it. So now I'm waiting to try yours, you'll have to put some aside - maple flavour is wonderful ! (✬◡✬)

SPaceDinVADerOne

@gogogo ... you're welcome Pam, & thank you :o) we have a lot of fun at all our markets ... it definitely helps with sales. seriously, who wants to buy from a grumpy vendor lol

we didn't know what to expect today, having the market on a holiday ... but we sold out of fudge & bread ... so it was a good day :o)

gogogo

Thanks for tag, John. Interesting about how this market is set up, thanks for sharing. Hope you and your crafty wife enjoyed your time at this market... :-))

@nanab ... I bring 11 dozen jars to each market, & usually come back with 9 dozen. Wednesday, I made 21 loaves of bread ... banana, apple & pear breads to be exact, along with 2lbs of fudge, late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning.

when we finished up Wednesday at 7pm, we had sold 13 loaves of bread & all of the fudge. we have a market in the morning. I just woke from my nap to start baking. 10 loaves tonight, & another 2lbs of fudge.

what ever is left over when we get home tomorrow afternoon will go to family tomorrow night when we get together for our 4th of July cookout

nanab

Sounds like a fun day John. I think if you lived here you'd be sold out within an hour.

PutterDutt

Thanks, John.

SPaceDinVADerOne

@morepiecesplz ... done :o)

@Bill_I_Am ... with everything located together, it makes the entire night fun filled. the town's swimming pool is less then 100 yards away as well :o)

@PutterDutt ... it's a concrete slab Ellen. it's one of a dozen trailer hook ups used for camping. not a lot of camping going on at the moment, even for the holiday weekend

@firstdawn ... come on down Dawn, we'll make sure you leave happy :o)

hippo

@morepiecesplz ditto.

Watchman

@morepiecesplz no problem. Thanks for letting me know. ;-)

morepiecesplz

Nothing personal, but I'd like to be removed from your tag list. Thanks. I wish you well.

Above, also:
@Watchman
@hippo

firstdawn

The city park setup sound like something I'd enjoy. Stroll and shop. What else is there to do with money burning in my pockets? LOL

PutterDutt

Is that a concrete slab you're on, or one of those mats? (The mats are used by a lot of folks at dog shows.)

Bill_I_Am

This is the best venue yet, John.

SPaceDinVADerOne

@puzzeljac ... thanks Ank & you're welcome :o)

@PutterDutt ... the shade was a welcomed relieve Ellen, it was in the low 90's & the humidity will suck the life out of you. we bring a cooler full of water & fruit, to keep us hydrated. the good thing about all of our markets is that they are small ... they are open in the early morning, or early evening, so we avoid the heat of the day. the larger markets are open all day because there are a lot more people where they are located

SPaceDinVADerOne

thanks all :o)

@JillianB ... I told my wife about your comment Jillian, she just smiled & said thank you. her crafting is "her sanity", & during the season, our living room is ½ buried under craft supplies. our season ends @ the end of November each year, so clean up goes hand in hand with bringing Christmas decorations out of the basement.

@ulangariver ... don't be shy with the flavors Nev, I'm always looking for "the next BIG seller". last year I added Pear Marmalade, Blue Raspberry, Jalapeno Relish, & Grape Jam.

I never made Grape Jam because you could get a huge jar in the store for a pittance. We picked concord grapes last year for the first time, & when I made the jam, the difference between it, & the store bought jam was night & day. all store bought jams are so sweet, & they use high fructose corn syrup as their sweetener because it is cheaper then sugar. I use cane sugar, so my jams have more fruit flavor then the store bought jams.

I have 60 items in my Facebook shop, with just over 40 in stock. that is the average, as some sell out for the season as new flavors arrive & I use this for advertising purposes. "Summer Berries" & the "Flavors of Fall" help separate the season as the inventory changes :o)

this Fall, after the corn is harvested, I will be walking the fields looking for corn cobs to use for corn cob jelly next year. next Spring, I will be picking dandelions in my yard, because someone asked if I make Dandelion Jelly :o)

@teamac ... we have a lot of fun at all of our markets. over the years we have made numerous friends that we see regularly during the season. my wife & I have discussed using this as a retirement vehicle, as it is something we both enjoy

@Isaly ... you're quite welcome :o)

PutterDutt

Looks cool and welcoming, John.

puzzeljac

Very nice John, thanks ♥♥♥

Isaly

Thanks for the tag John. What a neat event.

teamac

A wonderful festive atmosphere ☺

JillianB

Sounds like fun as well as work. Like your wife’s creations :-) Thanks

SPaceDinVADerOne

@iceng ... I hope something like that starts up for you again ... events like this are the true social media :o)

@Mischka ... that quote is my wife's ... & she has said it, & done it more then once ... & they come back the following week. she's the seller, I'm the baker/maker. we both sell, but she is the better of the two. they see me, they run away, they see her & throw money ... I'll bet it's because she's cuter then I am ;o)

Mischka
