The Lamprey River originates in the Saddleback Mountains in Northwood, New Hampshire and makes a journey of 49 miles across New Hampshire to the Great Bay. This dam is located in the old mill town of Newmarket, New Hamphire, and its power was harnessed to power the town's mills and shoe factories. The Lamprey is an estuary river with the dam serving as the dividing point between the fresh water flowing down from the mountains and the salty, tidal waters ebbing back and forth to to the Atlantic.

SWEET!!! The old mills make good living spaces...what fun to decorate a condo in an old mill!

Condos - in fact, my sister bought a condo in one of the first mills converted. Am totally jealous every time I visit.

The old mill towns made good use of the rivers to power their factories. Are they using the old mill for condos or shops now?
