Meet Louis, a 6 year old Lab mix who wants another chance at life. About 6 to 8 million cats and dogs enter shelters in the U.S. every year. And only half of them will ever get a chance at a new, loving home. To try and address this issue, the Humane Society of Utah are now producing a series of photobooth style portraits for their adoptable dogs. The hope is that these whimsical collections will convey the unique personality of each of their dogs. "This photo shoot is a much better way of presenting them as opposed to the sad dog behind the metal bars," photographer Guinnevere Shuster told the Daily Mail. And it's working - the photo series has seen adoption rates among the furry participants rise to more than 93%.
(I will be posting a couple of these over the next few days, I hope the Jigidi community will enjoy them.)

i am really glad to hear they are all safe. there was something on the net today about a pit bull being adopted after 5 years at a shelter. i got distracted and didn't read the details, but someone must have thought he was a great dog to keep him there so long. if so, though, why didn't someone else see it in all that time? anyway, another good dog story for today.

I really hope this idea is going to be used by many animal shelters. On our local news, every week they have an "Adopt a Pet from the Humane Society". Within minutes, they have homes. Also volunteers take the shelter dogs and cats to local pet stores, this too has been working well. In hopes of trying to get more attention to the city pound, there are some really sad stories there! That is where I'm going to get my next dog.

"Hi 5, number 4!"

So glad to hear that they found homes. They are all so adorable..
