Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Hallo all my dear friends. I hope I am back for good but after the past six or so months I cannot promise anuthing. Between my personal laptop, my work laptop, Chris's laptop, his phone, my phone, our modem(s), internet access, and loadshedding, interspersed with thunderstorms destroying our power connections for 24 - 48 hours at a time, it's been a very challenging time. And that doesn't even begin to touch the personal changes.

I am now officially retired, three parties held to celebrate with lots of lovely things said about me. I shall post a picture or two to show you. This means I am still trying to find my feet in terms of future work and income but thoroughly enjoying being at home on the farm and the quiet and peace.

South Africa is finally no longer ruled by the State of Disaster. The timing could not have been worse in some ways as the most violent and destructive floods hit KwaZulu-Natal the day after the President lifted it. There has been over 450 deaths as a result, including a friend of mine's cousin's family whose house collapsed on them. Too dreadful and tragic for words. So prayers are requested please for Gareth and Claire, and my friend Belinda.

Of course, I have been watching, along with the rest of the world, the dreadful situation in Ukraine, praying for that country and the brave people fighting for freedom. It feels as if, just as Covid's claws began to release us, that Pandora's box of evil has been opened to release more terrors on our poor world. This has been very distressing as well.

On the positive side Queen Elizabeth 2 reached the venerable age of 96 on the 21st April, and is celebrating 70 years of her reign. What an amazing woman she is. I keep thinking of how my Mum would have loved to watch all tPrince Philip's Memorial at Westminster Abbey was a truly beautiful celebration of his life and service.

On a personal note, I have been attending writing workshops and doing some writing of my own. I hope to be in a position to announce the publication of a children's book not too far into the future. I am going to be part of an anthology of local writers that will be launched at a local book fair in early July.

April is almost done and who knows what the coming months will bring. I truly hope you are all well and enjoying your solving and puzzling. Much love and blessings. Jayne

@dustin - here you go with an explanation of why I was away for so long. 😍

Woodowly

Thank you Ms Badger. I quite understand the compulsion to buy fabric!

Oh, and congratulations on retiring!

I am so happy to see you back. I missed your stories about fabric, South Africa, and your family over the generations. In the beginning I was resisting the never-ending urge to buy fabric--I'm a quilter--by reading your descriptions about the puzzle fabric.

A return cyber hug to you Jess. 🥰

How lovely to hear from dear old friends - Freidl, Gail, Chris. I shall enjoy making puzzles again and writing bits and pieces of thoughts. They will be very good discipline's for me! Love and hugs to all of you. Jayne

Welcome back from me too! I've enjoyed the vibrant colours and patterns in this puzzle, and am so glad that you have had some positives to come out of a nightmare of times. I hope your retirement brings fresh opportunities your way, and you enjoy exploring them all. Chris

So nice, I really love it! Thanks!

Gaillou

I'm so happy to see you here again, Jayne. You had me and many others worried. Life does throw us some unexpected curves sometimes. The collapse of your friend's cousin's house is sad. And the situation in Ukraine is deplorable. Where is common decency?
I hope retirement treats you well and wish you success with your writing. Blessings to you.

Welcome back! Good to see you on Jigidi again. The situation on earth did not change to the better during these months. But your personal situation did change to good things - a hopefully peace- and fruitful retirement, working internet, beautiful writing projects...I wish you all the best!
