Same airplane. Both designations are this aircraft, one military (C-47) and one civil (DC-3). Other, later aircraft, tail up w/ nose wheel, had other designations among the Douglas-built planes which this was. I suggest some research, if one will, on-line, varying the key words, will produce some further info.

Since this is a tail-dragger is it a C-47 and nose wheel configuration is a DC-3? Or was the plane a C-47 because of military identification and all civilian planes are DC-3 regardless of nose or tail wheel?
