Janemartin, thank you for the additional information. My family visited in October of last year and it was a lovely time of year to visit Washington, D.C. This was a tree I noticed on our walk back to the bus. The leaves were so bright and on fire, yet the tree looked so peaceful, warm and comforting. I had to grab the shot as we were walking by.

Thank you for the request betts2, that is my intention. I have maxed out my daily posting limit, so I will have to wait. The larger size should be coming shortly.

The cemetery was established during the Civil War on the grounds of Arlington House, which had been the estate of the family of Confederate general Robert E. Lee's wife Mary Anna (Custis) Lee (a great-granddaughter of Martha Washington).
