That's what remains in my memory too : wonderful places and wonderful people but we visited the West Coast twice and then (a year later ) my daughter and I went on a package tour of the East Coast ,not both within the same trip as you did.
But Americans are not the only wonderful people I have met .
When I was a French assistant in Liverpool in the sixties I came across lots of Irish people ,some were my students and their parents invited me to their houses ,lovely people indeed.
And I have always been attracted by all that's Celtic : people, music, culture, must be our roots...

First trip in 2011 was for our retirement, to be the 'once in a life-time' holiday: New York, The Rocky Mountains, San Francisco & Boston. Flying & car rental. Got hooked, found friends to visit & went back to different areas for the next four years. Met wonderful people, saw gorgeous sights & loved it.
Wonderful memories.

Great that you should go on annual road trips to that marvellous place. Do you rent a car or a motorhome ? Do you sometimes stay in Page ?
We saw it twice ,the first time on a package tour in October 1994 and the next time hubby organized a trip with our kids in August 1995 and it has remained in each one of our family ' s memory as the greatest place ,along with Yosemite, that we visited then.

I took this photo in October 2011on the first of our five annual US road-trips after retiring, so it is most likely that it wasn't there in '94. It really is in the middle of nowhere: the Monument Valley rock formations are visible in the distance but is probably some ten miles out.

So funny John .I don't remember seeing this sign but we travelled there in August 1995 ..and as the film was made in 1994 it was probably too close to put up the sign.
