Why are you reporting this puzzle?

The artwork in Today's Daily Jigsaw Puzzle is titled "Outside The Gate Of Pompeii" (1905), and the artist is John William Godward (1861–1922).

John William Godward was a distinguished English Neo-Classicist painter, mentored by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. Born in Wimbledon, Godward began exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1887, gaining recognition for his detailed depictions of classical tranquility.

His notable work, "Dolce far Niente" (1904), was later included in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s collection. In 1912, Godward relocated to Italy, where he further honed his classical style, although this move led to estrangement from his family.

Godward's art remained committed to Neo-Classicist ideals even as the art world pivoted towards modernism. He returned to England in 1921, his legacy enduring through his masterful portrayals of serene classical life.
