Actually, the lake is still frozen over. This is the little creek that flows into the lake.

Thanks so much Deanna!

Patti, the swans 🦢 in your picture are, in a word, charming. Beautiful birds as well as the photo, thank you and I wish you
☘️🐣 Happy Easter 🐣☘️

Lovely swans

Thank you Celine! I'm glad you get to see them, too. They were endangered for most of my life over here, so it's a treat to see that they have recovered well now.

Heicel

A wonderful shot making a nice puzzle, thanks!
We see quite a lot of swans now on our river here - most of them heading north towards Finland whose state bird is a swan. There they spend the summer and in autumn we see them again!

PLG1958

Thank you Anny! Glad you enjoyed.

Thank you Lorna! Yes, and I'm wondering if they're already building a nest, or if they'll wait till the ice goes out on the lake.

goingsilver

Handsome pair and a super photo of them Patti, thank you. They must be glad of the free flowing water. ☺

Where did they have their trumpets. PLG? I'm shore you knew.

PLG1958

By the way, I should mention that they were quiet as I slowly approached the creek, but they were not thrilled to see me. In a little while they were blowing their trumpets! So I quickly got out of their way.

Thanks so much Jim, Jillian, Jacki, Dusty, Ed, and Shirley! I had not heard that they were so dangerous, but it makes sense that they would protect their nests. Wow, so sad about the caretaker. Thanks for all your comments!

bowlakeboy

dustydog

I first learned about trumpter swans from E.B. White's "The Trumpet of the Swan" and am delighted to see them! Thank you for this beautiful photo of them!

JillianB

Beautiful photo Patti, so proud looking. Still frozen 🥶 golly. Thank you

eagleboi

These are beautiful but very protective, a caretaker was killed here when one of t he swans from a nest thought the guy was getting too close and attacked and knocked the boat over and fluttered around the man so much he drowned. But they are beautiful as they are so majestic. Thanks Pattie for sharing with us.
