Great photo, Cyndi. Speaking of long train trips, I crossed the country twice by train from North Carolina to San Francisco. Once in 1962 and again in 1966. First was the northern route - NC to Washington, DC, then to Chicago then through Ogden and Truckee to CA. Second was the southern route, NC to New Orleans, then to Los Angeles then up the coast to San Francisco. Both were 3 day trips via coach and even for a train buff, it was still rather grueling. But I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I can remember taking a train from my grandmother's house in California to northern Illinois when I was a very young girl. It was quite a trip. Sounds like you had a lot better time than I did.....
I really like this one Cyndi. It reminds me of when I was a little fella and we'd go to Steamtown in Vermont. We'd ride in the open cars behind the big, ol' steam locomotive and get covered with cinders and ash, smoke billowing everywhere, it was a blast :-)
