Well, Fall is just around the corner, and I won't be on the lake as much. Not a bad idea, there's some places I haven't been to yet. Thanks Suzy.

You could take us on a photo tour of your historic area if you have time! It would be fun!!! :)

Healer

I do, thanks Suzy. Several of the neighboring small towns have Indian names. Like Chickasaw, and Montezuma for instance. Early history.

Great day for a Lake Fest! Thanks for the local information, Healer. I remember learning about the Greenville Treaty . You live in a place of much history.

Oops! Eri, was supposed to be Erie.

Hi Faye. Yes, it use to be the largest man made lake in the world. But now there are larger one.
It would be concidered more of a reservoir. Constructed between 1837-1841, it covers 17,603 acres, and has several tributaries with the water flow between Lake Eri and the Mississippi River.
It's original use was part of the Erie Canal. The lake was once rich with oil/derricks also. There is a lot of history here. Greenville is not too far away, where the Greenville Treaty was signed in 1814, between the US and the Indians. Then there is Annie Oakley's birthplace, her grave sight and Museum, several Forts (Fort Recovery), or Fort locations, Eldora Race Track, the Neil Armstrong Museum and more. There is a lot near by.

You said this lake was man-made? Just how big is it...was it created as a result of building a dam or ...?
