"I will remove the sprig/branch of rosemary before I put that in my mouth but I understand the placement."

"Damn, Is it just me or is that a lot of truffle?"

OP: "It was an obscene amount of truffle. :)"

And, vulgarly but truthfully, "This some chefs table shit."

"some chef's table shit" ... hee hee hee ... that is going to keep cracking me up!

Mischka

Oh, @th_counselor, my bright warrior angel, I wasn't in the least offended. I know these folks and love them, and their comments crack me up. Thank you for looking out for me and the etiquette, though, as I know you have a perfectly good sense of humor, too!

I agree that it's the concave of the dish. I admit I lightly encourage people to say whatever they want about my puzzles by being silly myself.

I was VERY interested in your explanations about truffles. Quite by accident I encountered three truffle allusions onscreen in the past two weeks, so I jumped on this. (Now, THAT would be a mess! And a waste.) In an episode of the forensic show "Bones," two of the characters solve a 100-year-old mystery because the truffles taste wrong.

If they had been mushrooms, I'd have argued there weren't nearly enough, but if this is the steroid version, then I guess it would be like having ladles of aspirin for your topping, lol.

You are so knowledgeable about food that it's always a supreme compliment when you drop by, and I'm grateful!

@mauismom - Poor Penny, to have a day in which all the meals sucked! Bisque should never be oversalted, that sounds revolting. In fact, few fishy foods need salt unless they're preserved that way. And then to choose cookies for a palate cleanser! You're a braver gal than I, Gunga Din.

(Oh lord, now I'm going to have that phrase with "Paula Deen" going through my head...!)

My thanks and love to everyone. We're all good.

I have read (and posted) negative comments regarding the food, or it's overuse of ingredients. Have not read anything negative about Mischka, or the puzzle being bad, or do not post such things.

jimez

Oh really.

th_counselor

I don't know why people feel the need to make negative comments. If you don't like it, don't solve it. If it doesn't appeal to you, move on. Why is this so hard of a concept? People take time out of their days to do something for others that takes time and effort and you have people who come into the comments being rude. It gets very tiring to see and put up with. I wish there was a way to block people on here. If they can't be nice, they shouldn't even be able to see what you have published. Grrrrr! Just GTFO! Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you! Spare me the pleasure of your company. I hope your day is as pleasant as you are. Clearly, ONE of us has made a mistake and wasted the OTHER’s valuable time. However, you would like to hear it, just STFU and GTFO. (No Fiona, this is NOT aimed at you.)

jimez

This looks like something that had a collision, trying to reach light speed. 8(

mauismom

i'll pass on this, thank you. nothing's tasted very good today. went out to have a late lunch at one of my favorite spots. i had seafood bisque (too salty) and seafood newburg (butter sauce, 2 shrimp, 2 scallops, 8"x4" piece of fish). usually this place has decent food; i sent everything back. i was very disappointed. went to Walmart and had Pepperidge Farm cookies for lunch. it's 8:30pm now and i'm going to find a snack.

Donnajames

I have never had truffles either, but have been told it really tastes like dirt!!! *lol* I really don't know what dirt tastes like either!!! It is a great photo though. :-)) dj

th_counselor

If you are referring to the upper lefthand corner of this puzzle Fiona, that is the concave of the dish. I am 100% certain of this. LOL That is some chef's table shit because that is a LOT of truffle, particularly black truffle. If you have never had it, it is very earthy, kind of like a mushroom on steroids. You only need a little bit because they are strong in flavor, so I might not even like that amount of truffle on my pasta. That might be a bit of overkill, IMO. A beautiful puzzle, nonetheless.

msbonne

This IS kind of a mess.

Watchman

Never had truffles either. ;-)

Mischka

I chose the picture for the colors, but also because I've never had truffles, and never imagined that this is how they look.

I think that what looks like a plastic knife (or an albino dolphin's tummy) is a smear of sauce, but it could be either of those, or something else entirely... ?

@Donnajames, @th_counselor, @msbonne, anyone else - I understand that you know chefs' work in fine dining. Do you have any random comments? Thanks. :-)
