Looks like a Cockatoo to me.


It could also be a Goffin's Cockatoo. Hard to tell from a painting of a strangely positioned bird.

I agree shirw8en, however that would be very early in Australia's non indigenous history for Jakuchu to have painted a Western Corella. Possibly one of the corellas from the Philippines or Indonesia. I have a flock of Little Corellas who commute over my house each morning and return in the afternoon. I'm in Lake Macquarie (near Newcastle, NSW). They are such beautiful birds.
