I agree with you, Pat. With a landscape photo I want the colors to be realistic. I also do like abstract art photos, where the artist does mess with photo stuff. this one seems to be a bit of both. The tilted horizon is a little odd too, although I didn't notice that at the time. (I tilt the horizon by accident though, all the time.)
I'm usually left offrended by someone messing with the natural color in a photograph. Not this one. The hue gives perfect definition to the repetition of the forms, with the just-off-center sunrise/sunset drawing your eye back so you don't overlook the town and giving great depth to the picture. I love it.
