Thanks Evelyn..

Yes, he has new meds that are almost like chemo, they make him sick, but it is breaking
up the crystals. They cost over $700.00, but he can't quit until they do their thing. It
gets worse before it gets better, so he is suffering right now, and the gout is bad also.
He has a lot of pain meds too, so that helps a little. Yes, I think she is pretty also. Thanks.

Andie2a1383

I'm so glad for you Pat..
I'm off for a few days but will catch up with you when we come back.In the meantime do take care and enjoy every minute of sweet Bishka's presence.♥☺☺♥☺

wolflady

She is such a comfort for me, and right there with the tail wagging all the time. Hugs &
cuddles to you also..

Andie2a1383

She will no doubt be the best friend you can have by your side every day.I'm glad you found each other and now share a lot of love .Hugs and cuddles to you and Bishka .

wolflady

Thanks Andie for the prayers, we can use them all. Yes, Bishka helps take my mind off
things for a while, she is such a delight. I have never been without a friend, and believe
me it does help. Thanks again. Hugs..

Andie2a1383

Oh Pat I'm so sorry .It's just we are so used to travelling everywhere in the camper that the idea of a trip just popped up when you said "I"ve never been anywhere but in the US'" .I didn't know you had so much to worry about,I am really sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son.

I think getting Bishka was a very good idea, dogs can help us when we feel bad ,they are faithful ,understanding ,lovable companions. She will never let you down.Hugs and cuddles .xxx

wolflady

I really can't plan anything now. My son has stage 4 cancer, has the gout, and now has
kidney stones which he is trying to pass, it hasn't been a good time, that is why I
hesitated getting another dog, but she has brought me so much joy, that's helps.
I am getting too old to travel anyway. I am perfectly happy here. Have a great day.

Andie2a1383

Well you should plan a trip to France ,you'd love it...We went three times to the US,twice on the West Coast ( LA,Vegas,Brice Canyon ,Grand Canyon ,Yosemite...)-marvellous- and once to New York Washington ,Boston etc on the East Coast, had a great time there and enjoyed every minute of it .Beautiful country ,nicest people.

wolflady

I think because we had so much rain that is why all the mosquitoes, they are brutal. I put
something on my face, neck & ears in the morning & always wear long sleeves. So you
live in France, that is nice, I have never been anywhere, but in the US. I am so pleased
she is doing so well adapting, she loves everyone. Thanks Andie, and have a great
weekend..

Andie2a1383

Yes ,GS are good reliable dogs and they can wait quietly for hours for their master to come home. I'm glad she is getting used to you and your home,at 6 it's not that easy but she is doing it .Fine ! Enjoy more walks together ,she'll love that.In the meantime do protect your face, these mosquitoes sound terrible..and no ,in the east of France we've never had anything like it,actually not even the south of France where I was born and spent 35 years....take care too xxx

wolflady

We are surrounded with mosquitoes now, we had so much rain, I have to put stuff on
my face in the morning as they just attack us. Andie thanks for the nice comments,
she is becoming more relaxed with me now. I even went out for two hours last
night to play cards and she was an angel. Take care..

Andie2a1383

Yes ,sounds very serious but never heard of it over here..Perhaps the climate is different,we don't get that many mosquitoes here ,more horse flies as we have mares and foals to care for in our park ,on our next-door neighbour's behalf.
Good Bishka enjoyed her oatmeal bath .That's a treat !!
I'm looking forward to more picts. Thanks Pat:)))

wolflady

Heartworm is a very serious thing. My dogs have been on it for over 20 years. Don't know
where you live, but here in IL it is a pill we have to give our dogs every month. Same
with the tick & flea pill. Don't have to do the flea & tick thing in the winter when it is
freezing out, but I start in April & go through Nov. We did go for an oatmeal bath today &
she smells wonderful. Will try & post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks Andie..

Andie2a1383

I' d never heard of heartworm..but I googled it to learn what it is .Well just the thought of it scares me to death but there apparently are meds adapted to it? I'll ask the vet..
Hugs and cuddles to Bishka.
Take care :)))

wolflady

Thanks Andie, yes, ticks are terrible, Bishka takes flea & tick meds, plus heartworm. I know
there was a lot of things going on when they first came out with heartworm, and I was
a little concerned, but my daughters dog died of that, she was a German Shepherd, and
my daughter thought because she lived in the city her dogs didn't need that, but then
I saw what happened. So I am very faithful with the meds. Thanks again Andie..

Andie2a1383

My pleasure Pat ,only dog lovers can understand each other's feelings about their pets...
Ticks are awful ,we have to give Artus special meds as he gets lots when we walk in the woods up the lane, and I always fear those pills might kill him as they are very strong, but then there's that Lyme disease which can be very bad too ,so little choice left..
Oatmeal bath ? I don't think that's the kind they propose over here but it sounds very nice..
Looking forward to more picts of Bishka, she is a beautiful girl with her black, shiny coat..Thanks Pat.

wolflady

Thanks Andie for your encouragement for Bishka. There is a creek over the berm out
front, but could never get down there, as the bugs are horrid. Especially ticks. We do
have a lake in here, but I would have to drive over there. I take her to a pet salon,
called Doggie Styles, which I took Cali every three months for an oatmeal bath, & she
always smelled so nice. I will be posting more pictures in the future. Maybe today
after the bath I can get a good one. Thanks again...

Andie2a1383

Thanks for your encouragement Pat.Losing Artus will break our hearts ! And we are not that young to get another dog..
Hope Bishka enjoyed her bath..German Shepherds don't like them very much unless it is very hot outside ,but whenever we come across a stream or a little river or even the canal Artus will be ready to get into the water .Funny isn't it ! And Pacha the German Shepherd we had before him was exactly the same ..so if you take a walk and there's water, she will probably rush to it..
I'm glad you enjoy each other's company and love, losing your pet is so sad and the grief is there for a long time, you never forget them but yes, as soon as you get another one then they give you so much love you feel better at once.
I hope you'll post some pictures of her from time to time..Thanks ;:)))

wolflady

Ardy, I grew up with German Shepherds, and always loved them. But as the years went
by I found Tasha, and then Cali, and I loved them so much. Even had a Doberman
rescue in between. Tasha was a lab/retriever, and Cali was a lab/border collie. I loved
them both so much, Tasha was almost 16 when she passed, but Cali was only 11. Then
I saw Bishka at the shelter, had been returned after 10 mos. and was already 6, & I
felt since I am older I needed an older dog, and she needed me. Its so great to have
that love again. Thank you Andie for your comments, and I know how you feel when
your dog is getting up there & not as active anymore, you worry all the time. I am sure
Artus will be with you a long time, especially when you give him all that love & attention.
Thanks everyone for caring. Bishka is going for a bath today, as she smells like the kennel.
Hope that works out. Thanks again..

Chipmunks are cute little creatures, Bishka. Fun to watch. So happy you and Pat have found each other. Thanks for sharing, Pat. I love German shepherds.

Andie2a1383

Sorry I didn't know the bad news and it makes me very sad .When I posted comments on her scarf making her so pretty I never thought she'd disappear so soon.I am really sorry as I know what it is like to lose a beloved pet .To tell you the truth I dread thinking of Artus going as he is ten and not so lively as he used to be.
I'm glad you have Bishka to care for, that's the best way to keep going : get another pet to cuddle and love . All the best to you and that lovely girl.:))))

wolflady

Thanks Yvonne, she is so lovable. Cuddles for Sammy with lot of hugs & love to you both.

SamSammy

Oh Pat, this is so cute! I'm so happy for you both! Give her lots of cuddles from me please! Love and hugs :))

wolflady

Thank you, I am happy again. Didn't think I would be, but I haven't forgotten Cali, but the
pain is less.

gemstone

Lucky you! I'm so glad for you both! :)))
