I was wondering about the show piece as well... even the birds lost interest in it!
What's wrong with a little "frosting" on pretzels anyway! :)

HA! HA! Ernie. There's nothing like bird droppings on your pretzels to make them extra delicious. The bread on the counter might be day-old bread, but I wonder if the one standing up is a display piece that is ancient and has a sort of shellac coating to keep it looking appealing.

I wonder if the bread that is out is yesterday's bread and is cheaper that what will come out of the oven? Also, the pretzel hanger might turn into a bird feeder if he is not careful!

No, but the oven's glowing, so maybe it's about ready to come out. Nothing like warm (hot) bread so the butter can melt and seep in.

Oh that would makes sense, to announce that it's all fresh out of the oven. Or at least I hope it is, somewhere inside. There's not much in his window.

Could he blow the horn because everyone is at work in the village and the bread just came out of the oven?

Hmm, why do you think a baker need's to blow a horn? And what kind of plant has blue leaves?
