I don't know Paul. It seems a small building to serve just one of those functions let alone both (i.e. lock up and fire engine house). But on the link I give they don't know whether it did serve the two functions at the same time.

Wonder if the prisoner was kept in a cage. I thnk there are quite a few of these old buildings stil in use today , I know of one in the midlands now used as the village bus shelter .
