This tug was built in 1916 by and for the Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, OH as the Mississippi. In 1957 she was repowered from steam to diesel-electric. In June 2020, the Mississippi was leased to the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City, Michigan for use as a temporary training vessel there.
