Moret was deeply influenced by the Impressionist movement after encountering the works of Claude Monet, which led him to adopt vibrant colors and dynamic brushstrokes in his paintings. He became part of the Pont-Aven School, interacting with artists like Paul Gauguin.

His work, especially his vivid seascapes, played a significant role in promoting Impressionism in the late 19th century. Despite health challenges later in life, Moret continued to paint, capturing the transient moods of the sea and coastal landscapes until his death.
