Why are you reporting this puzzle?

This is a 20 acre area of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Oconto County, WI. Old growth Hemlock, Red and White Pines have remained uncut for centuries. There is also a Great Blue Heron rookery that we couldn't find, but we could hear what I assume were the Herons.

They are not being cut down. Some are down because of lightning (they are higher than most of the other trees in the area), wind, etc. All natural causes.

This is sad. Why are they being cut?
