Thanks, Linda and Evie!

My mother loved to can different foods. Especially tomatoes.
It is a lot of work. I've never tried it.

Such a bunch of busy bees. I am just too lazy to do that. Plus, of course, I don't have a stove.

I always loved to can! I always canned lots of homemade applesauce,
tomatoes, sweet & sour pickles and peaches.. Lots of time spent doing
this, but it was such satisfying work!!!

Thank you for all your comments!

My husband had a whole bunch of those bottles on our porch. He intended to make homemade beer, but never got around to it. I really don't know what eventually happened to them. Sheila does a lot of canning and is always bringing her creations down to me to try.

Thank you Sarah! I wish I had taken canning up earlier in life. After watching some You Tubes, I decided I could do this. The fun thing is my daughter cans too and is something we can do together when I visit.

What great Christmas gifts!! 🎁🌲🎁
All of your canning still amazes me! 💙💜

A friend gave me a bunch of Grolsch beer bottles two years ago (I do not drink beer) that were green glass with a lid that snapped on with a wire clasp. They were perfect to make homemade vanilla so I made a dozen to give as Christmas gifts. I used vodka and was not happy with the color or taste last Christmas. I just used one to try in oatmeal scotchies, with butterscotch chips this week and the cookies turned out good. If I were to make it again, I think I might try rum next time. It still has a very strong alcohol flavor before cooking. After cooking it dissipates.

I wish they did! These are some pretty fancy canning jars. I can more meat like chicken, ground turkey, and canned hamburger meat, pork roast, turkey roast, and meals like beef stew. My daughter water bath cans a lot of preserves like the blueberry, black berry, and strawberry preserves. She just used cranberries to make cranberry sauce and she makes lots of fresh salsa. So good. My cranberry juice with whole cranberries did look as good as the pictured above. Right now we are both stocked up on split pea soup and assorted beans.
