White Chapel - Iceland

White Chapel (Chapelle blanche) is a photograph by the contemporary artist Christophe Jacrot.

For many years, Christophe Jacrot's artistic project has been focused on his pursuit of bad weather conditions. The large urban areas have become his favourite areas to shoot in (NYC, Chicago, Tokyo, Hong Kong.) More recently, the artist has been looking for natural landscapes as Iceland or the Normandy coasts with his series « White Iceland » or « Blizzard ».

In the serie « Snjór » (snow in Islandic), the artist magnifies the nature's power and shoots landscapes buried under a deep snow in which the isolated habitations are hardly outlined. As a mirage, these ghostly presences bring a dreamy dimension to Christophe's photographs.
His photographs are reflecting a certain sense of composition, inherited from his cinematographic knowledge.
