I didn't Ginni, I'm sorry. But I would have gotten there today (I hope) I'm planning on catching up with reacting to comments :)) Long overdue as usual. I'm trying to keep abreast with everything, sometimes manage for a couple of days, and then it slides again :(((
We don't have the ruby-throated hummers here in southern California. I'd never heard of the Lucifer hummer, but they barely touch the U.S. We are supposed to have the black-chinned hummers as migrants, but I've never seen one. Even more surprisingly, the Audubon group that does the monthly bird count has only seen one since January 2010, and they haven't missed a month, even during covid. The black-chinned male has a touch of purple on his throat, but not nearly as much as the Anna's has pink, so I'm lucky that's what I have. And Allen's. An Allen's momma made a nest right outside my door:
As a whole we have ruby-throated and the Lucifer and the black-chinned. In our area, I only see the black-chinned. They are gray and smaller but loads of fun to watch. The Anna is soooo pretty!
