I wondered how Jenny could bring it in---or even hold it as she is in the photo. It looks like it weighs almost as much as she does! Congrats to you two & brother. Thanks for showing....................
Well, obviously you dress fish the same way I do and we ALWAYS make a concentrated broth, as you do - very healthy and always good for a chowder or a "Chupe de camarones"! - or, of course, a bouillabaisse :)
Yes we did, mostly fried gently in oil and butter, egg and bread crumbs. We make a dark fish chowder with the head, shoulders and off cuts. I bet your wife's recipes are very tasty, thanks.
Yum! I'd love to let my wife loose on a fish like this!! She has a lot of Peruvian recipes inherited from my ma-in-law. Dream on, you may well say - I don't fish any more. Bet you'll make a few tasty meals with this one.
What great fishing stories - although I liked the one about Jenny the best.
You have the best recipes for grouper, I'll bet! I can almost taste them now! Thanks, Robbie!
Thank you all and Jenny thanks you too, she loved this one! The real story.....Jenny's brother fisherman Blake caught this and we bought it. I filet the grouper, cut into two person portions, seal in zip lock bags and divide between my parents and us. I did catch one about 30 years ago on a hand line. It weighed 58 lbs and I can still remember how good it tasted! We filleted the grouper and made a rich chowder with the head and shoulders, wasting nothing.
haha - wait until Robbos sees this - OMG he will be SO jealous!!! He's off-line now, Robbie, but he'll be back this arvo and when he does, I'm sure he'll show you a few LARGE crabs he's been raking.....that's before he ate them of course!!
Yes, the fish I lost........and Jenny caught!! 48LB Grouper. My line broke as the fish came up to the boat, Jenny jumped overboard, grabbed the fish by the gills.......held her breath for 4 minutes and brought it back to the boat..........( Well it COULD have happened like that......couldn't it????!!!!
