Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Cyrus McCormick invented the reaper for harvesting crops saving untold amounts of labor. He eventually became a wealthy businessman. He later partnered with rival Deering and they became the International Harvester Company. For awhile, certain tractors for working row crops where given the name, "McCormick Farmall." I found that name on one of the tractors I found retired in a field in Idaho. Now for the rest of the story. My family always told me that on my dad's side of the family, we were related to Cyrus McCormick.

jignjw: you're welcome. If I don't honor them, not sure if anyone posting puzzles would, Terry

Terry, thanks for the 'historical' sign...those old tractors deserve to be honored. Thanks for the puzzle. Nancy

seagirl7

bjondron, maybe they should have named the tractor, "Farmall the time." Terry

bjondron

Farming 24/7! Even when asleep they plow/plant/harvest their fields, in the back of their minds! i

seagirl7

dusty and bjondron, Mrs. McCormick is always complaining that her husband farmalls the time. Terry

dustydog

@bjondron
You're welcome!
Dusty : )

bjondron

Ah, dustydog, how astute... a little tractor genealogy!

dustydog

Now, how did that go, what I I learned way back when? Oh yes,
"Allis Chalmers married John Deere, and now they have a little Farmall their own!"
@seagirl7

seagirl7

jerrys, age knows no bounds...at least for tractors, Terry

jerrys

@seagirl7 For certain! At my age, years have ceased to matter, but a Farmal Cub is forever (my sister still cranks it up occasionally for small jobs.

seagirl7

BJEE, I am glad you liked it. Even though it will get a record for low number of solves, I thought it looked a little like a modern art painting, Terry

seagirl7

jerry, if you grew up with one, that kind of reveals your age, doesn't it. LOL, Terry

seagirl7

bjondron, thanks for the comment. Regarding genealogy, see my comment to olando, Terry

olando: Vips, I would like to learn about my genealogy but there just isn't the time. It seems I don't even get through the things I have to do, let alone add more things I would want to do. Terry

jerrys

It's a call to plow through the family records! I grew up with an old Farmal on the farm Reliable little machine, once it was cranked up to start!

bjondron

A Farmall in every barn, I'd say!

This is a part of many farmer's history as they worked the american fields, bringing produce to the family's table and food for animals and ship around the world.

May you search to know for sure if related and let us all know!

olando

Wow Terry, you should start studying genealogy, maybe you can find out more. Vips

How exciting for you Terry, when you came across this! Great picture and a very fun puzzle too!
