In those days rich people had different drying cloths for glasses, pots and pans, cutlery, plates; and for in the toilet, the bath, the kitchen etc. etc. All made of linen.

Hello.
I agree, that it is too beautiful to work with.
This was an apron for a maid in a middleclass family.
She would open the door for visitors and serve tea etc. And... look very neat and smart in such an apron.
Or.... she was a ladies 'maid of waiting'!! (dress the lady and do her hair)
If she had to clean the floors, she would wear an old on - but nobody visiting should ever see that!
Actually it is another form for the family where she served, of showing off their wealth!

Another thing: I wouldn't like to wash and iron all these items!!

I have a few more pictures of this museum, so for 2 more days I can send you them!!

The apron is beautiful. I would love to see this museum in person - I love vintage fabrics. Thanks for sharing Lia. Elinore

That apron is so pretty. I would hate to wear it in case it got dirty.............Wendy

Die schort is eigenlijk veel te mooi om mee te werken.
