Yes, it was the 17:20 London Bridge to Uckfield service and the picture is taken from the signal box then existing at Selsdon looking towards South Croydon.

It looks like one of the East Grinstead/Uckfield commuter services of mid to late 1970's.
These 8-coach sets would be used only for the rush hour services to/from London Bridge, fast to East Croydon. The loco hauling in the ECS would wait just outside the station to take out the next set. The last loco of the day would normally be a 33/2 Slim Jim.
