Amazing and awe-some.

You have been deceived by the photo! The lighthouse is at the end of the harbour wall, and therefore can be easily reached in good weather. But the designers had also considered poor weather, so the harbour wall was built with a tunnel the whole 610m length of the wall. The angle of the harbour wall into the North Sea produces these wonderful towering waves whenever the wind and tide are right.


That wave dwarfs the lighthouse. Imagine trying to land a boat there when the light keeper needs more supplies.
