Welcome to Baddeck, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia...the start of The Cabot Trail

In June we travelled by rail from Vancouver (British Columbia) to Montreal (Quebec) where we spent five nights. We then took an overnight train to Moncton (New Brunswick). Next we drove to Prince Edward Island, Cape Breton (Nova Scotia), and flew home from Halifax.

The flowering plums we have here are big trees like the flowering cherries...and they do look lovely in the spring...but the trunks tend to get rather lumpy as they age and we have those little green worms that hang down and you walk into them. Yuck! Vancouver has banned pesticides so we're presently stuck ducking and diving until they die out...when the city will replace them with indigenous trees. The ones that I really like and have only seen a few of in private gardens are flowering almonds...so pretty. :)))

My flowering plum is a bush, or so I have always treated it.

But when I have searched for it I see it as a tree. I preferred it when we were keeping it trimmed back. I love those blooms in the spring.

Thank you, roseheather. This wasn't a tree but rather a bush...like forsythia...that is, if I'm remembering correctly! LOL I don't know what it was but it looked so delicate that I just had to immortalize the memory. Thank you for popping by. :)

Lovely.

This looks like my flowering plum.

The drive started gray and dampish, Suzy, but by the time we reached Pleasant Bay on the west side we had lovely sunshine...along with blow-down-the-tent winds! ;D

The journey of fun continues!

This was at the side of the building where reception and the restaurant were, Ardy...we were on our way to breakfast and I just had to snap these delicate blossoms. However, I never managed to snap the daffodils and irises a few steps away...blooming in mid June. ;D

I remember it being surprising to find spring flowers in June up there. Lovely., Faye. Thank you. ♥♥
