So we both learned something new! I'd never seen or heard of a Maned Wolf until someone posted a photo on a facebook naturalist group that discusses animals, plants, and insects. I then searched for a higher resolution photo and more information. Google translater is not always accurate but helpful. I only speak English so use it often—with varying results. ;-) Renée

You are right; my english is lacking vocabulary. In french it is called «un loup à crinière», that is a wolf with mane. I did not know the meaning of «mane» and the Google translater did not help much

I am not the photographer or an animal expert but maned is referring to the fur on its neck. I googled for this definition. "a growth of long hair on the neck of a horse, lion, or other animal." Therefore, it's not a werewolf. It is a beautiful animal. Google Maned Wolf for more photos and info.

The translation of «maned wolf» is «loup-garou»...which is «werewolf » in english ???
