Roy and Clara Miller created their park as a rest stop and recreation area along Kansas Highway 18, both for the citizens of Lucas and the public. They welcomed travelers, offered fresh water, eventually built cabins, and added playground equipment and picnic tables. Most importantly, they shared their small sculpture-filled park with visitors. They built miniature buildings for a tiny town and fashioned a rock garden of rocks and shells they gathered on their travels. During the 1920’s, it was a Lucas gathering spot.
The property was eventually sold in 1969 to settle the estate. The sculptures were moved to Hays, Kansas and became a tourist site known as Frontier Village. It was left to languish in a field for more than 40 years.
The Kohler Foundation, which has worked to save grassroots art in many places, joined with local volunteers in 2012 to preserve the surviving 45 pieces and return them to a new Miller's Park in Lucas. In November 2013, the Kohler Foundation passed stewardship of Miller's Park to the Friends of S.P. Dinsmoor's Garden of Eden (See yesterday's puzzle).
The "Towers" (most about 5 ft or 1.5 meters tall) are concrete decorated with a variety of rocks and other materials including river stones, Barite rose stones, seashells, and slag glass. Many of the buildings are models of historic buildings, mostly in Kansas and Colorado.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I am especially impressed by those who tackle the largest sizes. There are three more artist in the series so far.

So enjoyable that I deliberately played it out to make it last longer. Looking forward to others like it.
