Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Tinder dry brush is providing lots of fuel and the winds are helping the fire to grow and spread to the north. It is not expected to be contained until the July monsoon rains arrive. Roads, lakes, hiking trails in the area are closed. Roosevelt Lake area residents have been ordered to evacuate. Close to 900 fire fighters are working this fire. This was an internet pciture taken from a road in east Mesa/Apache Junction. I took photos of snow on the mountains from this same area this winter. On the right is the lower north end of the Superstition Mountains. As seen from Mesa, the wall of smoke today was over twice as tall as the mountains.

I saw your puzzles also and figured you live close to the base. I live further west, in east Mesa, but we can see the plumes of smoke. One of our ministers has a home in Gold Canyon and my son sometimes sets up HVAC systems in new homes out there and they could see the flames. I cannot hike anymore, but I am saddened at the destruction of so much of that beautiful area. It takes 30 years for a saguaro to reproduce and the new ones must be under the shade of a bush or tree, so it will be a long time before some of that recovers. My heart goes out to those whose homes and businesses are in danger. I am thankful that none of the firefighters have been injured. And now road closures on I17 and route 87 due to fires starting next to the roads. Man caused? People must be very careful this season not to cause more fires.

It is absolutely heartbreaking. It is very scary knowing what is going on just a few miles away on the other side when we cannot even see or smell the smoke most of the time from our home at the base of the mountain. It's like a real life horror show. The only visible sign of any danger close by are the firefighter's air tankers and helicopters flying back and forth. The thought of all the wildlife in danger sickens me. I saw they were also having people use a permanent marker to write their number on the hooves of their animals.

The fire is still growing and moving to the northeast and into grasslands. At 1 pm yesterday an order was issued for residents of the Roosevelt Lake Area to evacuate. A shelter was set up in Miami, AZ. If possible, residents can bring their stock to the fairgrounds. If not possible, they were instructed to paint their phone numbers on their animals before turning them loose. So very sad.

I can see why my fog pictures reminded you of this smoke. Tragic!
